New page

Cleanup

Base raping is a term used for (excessively) destroying the enemy base. This serves several purposes and can greatly help an attack. Destroying generators will disable all base assets connected to the generator (exception: Deployables have their own power source and will keep working). Destroying inventory stations will restrict the enemy to their starting loadouts and also make it difficult to repair the base. Destroying turrets and sensors makes it easier for cappers to attack the base.

Heavy Armor
Tribes 2/Roles/Heavy offense
The heavy armor is good for its hit and run tactics. If the terrain doesn't permit a hit and run, then the heavy must enter with an escort or while the base is under disarray. Once the heavy is in the base, he may camp or finish off the rest of the base with his mortar launcher. The mortar is very useful for base raping as it can be bounced around corners for indoor fighting, and because it destroys assets very quickly. One round fired in passing will destroy an inventory station. One or two rounds will destroy a generator.

Medium Armor
The medium armor can use its Shrike Entering technique to enter the base quickly. Pilot a Shrike to the enemy base and divebomb the target area to sweep out any defenders (make sure you eject in time!). He can then navigate to the generators, and destroy them with his plasma rifle, which penetrates shields and so can destroy base assets with ease. If the assault is armed with a shield pack, he can be very hard to eliminate.

Light Armor
The only way the light armor can effectively base rape is if he cloaks. While cloaking, the scout can maneuver to the generators and take them out with his plasma rifle. Note that he will be severely low on ammo after doing so. After the generators are down, however, he may escape the base and maybe shocklance a few base defenders on the way out.
