'''Switchblade''' has a large amount of health and wields blades. Switchblade has a flying attack where it will hover in the air and then fly quickly at the player dealing damage on contact. This enemy first appears in the Conduit Room as a boss. Multiple Switchblades appear in levels later on.
Switchblades are an enemy in Deadzone: Rogue.

Switchblades have a glowing orb in their abdomen, serving as their weakpoint. Unless Frozen or Staggered, most of this weakpoint is covered.
Switchblades will move directly towards the player and attempt to make melee attacks against the player. Every few seconds, the Switchblade will charge. This is first telegraphed by the Switchblade stopping and leaning forward, and after by a glint coming from the Switchblade's weakpoint. The Switchblade then moves very quickly until it reaches an obstruction. If it passes through the player, the player will also take damage.
Switchblades first appear at the end of Security Level 3 as the boss. Single Switchblades may also appear in rooms starting from Security Level 7.
== Strategy ==
* Like with other melee enemies, the Switchblade's melee attack can be dodged by dashing away from it during the windup. Additionally, Chill can be used to almost completely prevent the Switchblade from reaching the player.
* The charge attack can be dodged by dashing perpendicular to the Switchblade shortly after its weakpoint glints. Alternatively, obstructing cover - such as the pillars in the first encounter - will block the Switchblade's charge.
* Freezing the Switchblade as it prepares to charge will stop it from charging.

Strategy

  • Like with other melee enemies, the Switchblade's melee attack can be dodged by dashing away from it during the windup. Additionally, Chill can be used to almost completely prevent the Switchblade from reaching the player.
  • The charge attack can be dodged by dashing perpendicular to the Switchblade shortly after its weakpoint glints. Alternatively, obstructing cover - such as the pillars in the first encounter - will block the Switchblade's charge.
  • Freezing the Switchblade as it prepares to charge will stop it from charging.
