The Hellstorm attacks faster, or "revs up", or "spins faster", while it is aiming. When the player switches weapons, throws a grenade, makes a melee attack, or stops aiming, this progress is lost. However, when the player initiates a reload (regardless of whether it completes), this progress is stored until the player next aims with the Hellstorm.

* The Hellstorm is an exceptional weapon, boasting some of the highest damage output in the game when fully revved. The Plasma Cannon, meanwhile, sports similar damage output to other automatic weapons while also bearing the downsides of miniguns, and thus should be avoided.

* Despite their large ammo capacity, Miniguns benefit greatly from ways to extend their clip further or regain ammo while firing.

* Reloading should be used to maintain the Hellstorm's firerate without always sacrificing mobility.

* Unlike most weapons, Miniguns have almost not ability to attack small targets at long range, notably [[Deadzone: Rogue/Enemies/Wasp|Wasps]]. Secondary weapons can somewhat be used to mitigate this weakness, although none have exceptional long-ranged abilities.
