Melee Phalanxes are an enemy in Deadzone: Rogue.
Melee Phalanxes have glowing red vents on their back, as well as a red light on the centre of their chest. These act as their weakpoints. They also carry a shield that blocks bullets.
Melee Phalanxes will move directly toward the player and attempt to make melee attacks against the player, lowering their shield when they attack. After attacking, their mace gets stuck in the ground, preventing them from turning or raising their shield until they pick it back up.
1-2[verification needed] Melee Phalanxes will appear in almost every room in Security Level 9. They will not move unless provoked.
Strategy
- Like other melee enemies, the Melee Phalanx's melee attack can be dodged by dashing away from it during the windup. Additionally, Chill can be used to almost completely prevent the Melee Phalanx from reaching the player.
- Melee Phalanxes are very vulnerable shortly after they attack.
- The shield doesn't cover the Phalanx's head and legs. Firing at these points with an accurate weapon from a distance is another safe way to eliminate Melee Phalanxes.
