The Shotgun is a tertiary weapon for all classes and fires 9 pellets in a single blast. Each of the 9 pellets does a maximum of 110 damage for a potential maximum of 990 damage in a single shot. The damage falls off at longer ranges, for a minimum of 56 damage from a single pellet.
The Shotgun is a hitscan weapon, meaning that as long as the crosshair is on the target, it will hit instantly. Currently the center of the nine pellets fires in a straight line, precisely lining up with the center of the crosshair. In addition to the weapon being highly effective at short ranges, it is also effective at medium and long ranges to do chip damage to finish off a weakened enemy.
