Tribes Royale is an unannounced game by Hi-Rez Studios, most likely based on the Tribes series. On October 05, 2017, Hi-Rez Studios filed three trademarks for the name Tribes Royale.[1] Based on these trademarks, it can be determined that this will be an online multiplayer game with the ability to communicate with other players. One of the trademarks includes verbage video-game software for use on mobile devices, tablets, and cellular phones, indicating that it will most likely be a mobile game. This assumption is based on the fact that Tribes: Ascend and Smite, earlier PC based games released by Hi-Rez, did not include this verbiage in their trademarks, yet their mobile game, Smite Blitz, did.
Gameplay
While Hi-Rez has not made any official announcements about 'Tribes Royale', there are some assumptions that can be made based on the title. Two very popular games were released in 2017 that were based on a battle royale genre, and it is assumed that Hi-Rez is jumping on the band wagon to create their own battle royale game. Hi-Rez was accused of doing something similar with an earlier game, Paladins, which bares a striking resemblance to Blizzard's Overwatch. While Hi-Rez denies these claims, the fact remains that it is very similar to Overwatch, and then they register a trademark with a title that includes the word royale in it, the same year that the battle royale genre has started to regain popularity. It's also possible that the game will be similar to the popular mobile game Clash Royale.
