TRIBES 3: Rivals (Starsiege: Tribes 2024) is an upcoming first-person shooter from Prophecy Games, a subsidiary of Hi-Rez Studios, for Microsoft Windows, as part of the Tribes series. Aspects from previous Tribes games, such as jetpacks and skiing are featured in the game. Additionally, elements from Tribes: Ascend, including perks, weapons, and packs, have returned. Elements from Starsiege: Raiders have been included as well. The game is planned to be available for purchase through Steam for $19.95 for the base edition, possibly with more expensive premium editions including extra cosmetics also available.
How to Play
Tribes 3: Rivals is currently in an early alpha state, and is available during scheduled playtests to players who have registered for the playtest. Currently the playtest is open to the public, with the only requirement being requesting access on Steam. Most playtests begin on Thursday evening US Eastern Time and run for one to three days. Playtests are announced on the Tribes 3: Rivals Discord and the Tribes 3: Rivals page on X, formerly known as Twitter.

History
The game was announced on the loading screen for the alpha of Starsiege: Deadzone on May 12, 2023. On November 22, 2023, a "Tribes 3: Rivals Playtest" was created on Steam[2]. A few days later on November 27, 2023, registration was opened for the alpha playtest. Two days later, an official Steam page was created for the game[3].
Play tests
The most recent play test was part of Steam Next Fest, and run from February 5 through February 12, 2024. Due to the success of the demo, the servers were kept open for two additional days until February 14, 2024. During the February 2024 Next Fest, Tribes 3: Rivals was the 20th most popular game, and the most popular shooter [4].
Gameplay
Classes
- Main article: Tribes 3: Rivals/Classes
Tribes 3: Rivals features a class-based loadout system similar to Tribes: Ascend, featuring only three classes, light, medium, and heavy. Each loadout specifies what type of armor the player has, along with what weapons and items they carry. Each loadout supports three in-hand weapons, one belt item such as grenades or mines, and a pack. Prophecy Games has not announced if there are any plans to sell cosmetic items such as player skins.
Light Armor
Light Armor is extremely fast and is best suited for flag capping and chasing.

Medium Armor
Medium armor finds the balance between speed and survivability. It may be outfitted to fill sniping or infiltration roles.

Heavy Armor

Custom Matches and Content
While dedicated or private servers are unlikely, custom matches will be supported as they eventually were in Tribes: Ascend. Users will be able to create custom matches that offer different team sizes and weapon loadouts, custom modes that alter the game’s core physics such as gravity and player speed. Unlike in Tribes: Ascend, custom content will be supported, allowing users to generate their own content such as customized maps and environments.
